My Mental Journey

I was born into a low-income family. My father was a straightforward but inflexible person. His career was not as successful as he wished. He turned to drinking to drown his sorrows and as a result, often hurled abuse at us. My mother was a traditional woman; working consistently and taking everything without complains all her life. For us, there was never a day where home felt like a safe haven as it should.

In his sober state, he turned his disappointments and unhappiness into a wish, one that he has failed to keep. He wishes that we can create a safe haven for our children, for them to live meaningful lives. Till the very end, it remained his greatest wish and single goal.

Towards him, I may be angry but most of the time, my feelings are mixed and confused; I can never forget his lingering welled up tears of disappointment at wanting so much to ask his family for forgiveness and yet, not being able to do so. I decided I could not let his only wish fade away. This conviction supplied me with the drive and motivation to push my own dreams to fruition. I vowed to build a safe haven for my own family.

One Step at a Time… Leading to My Dreams

My childhood experiences and my parent’s wish for me were ingrained deeply in me. They guided my actions and decisions. I worked very hard, giving my 100% in every job I did. In 1994, I began learning how to lay floor tiles. Two years later, from a mere apprentice, I became a small time contractor. In the process, through the sharing of my customers’ joy and happiness, I increasingly enjoyed this field of work. Apart from seeing the satisfaction upon my customer’s faces, I also enjoyed the whole process of assisting others in building up their dream home. I realized that this was my true calling and it followed that I set up a renovation company to realize my dreams.

My Definition of Home

A home is a safe, comfortable and carefree place where you and your family can enjoy the best quality of living.

Safe (without any worries), comfortable (relaxed and casual) and carefree (easily managed) is, I believe, the formula for a good quality time.
